Back to the Grind

It's hard to beleive that thanksgiving break is over, and not only that but that there are now only three weeks left in this semmester. I'm amazed how quickly time flies.
We had our first snowfall yesterday, winter I think has officially showed up. I have to let go of my fantasy of a summer comeback, at least for a few months :).

New superman trailer out

I just ran across the teaser trailer for the new superman movie being produced "Superman Returns". It truly is a teaser trailer but hey it's superman so I had to post a link up to it. On another note I saw Walk the line last night. The movie about Johnny Cash. I was bummed that movie focused only on the early part of his career but it was ok. I recomend it for a rental when it comes out on DVD but thats about it.

Christian Musicain Summit Aftermath

It was a real blast. The only frustrating thing for me was that during the break out sessions there were so many good classes to attend but being finite, I was only able to pick one. In retrospect I think I did good job narrowing down my choices but man was it excruciating. The fact that the classes didn't have explanatins of what was to be discussed, only tittles and instructors didn't help. I concentrated most of my time going to sessions on worship leading and songwriting despite a strong urge to attend everything related to guitar. Because really the last thing I need is more information on guitar :).
The best break outs I attended were ones taught by Paul Baloche and Roby Duke a songwriter/guitarist. Paul did two sessions one on worship team dynamics and another on writing worship songs. He had great info but the coolest thing for me was that it seemed we had alot of simmilarities as far as temperment and personality. It was really encouraging for me. Roby Duke was just hilarious. He also did a class on songwriting and one on open tunings for guitar(my guitar indugence for the weekend). I really need to get some of his music.
I give the conference two thumbs up. The main thrust of the conference was ...to instruct musicians and to inspire talent. They deffinetly got me inspired. The one major critique I have was that some of the presenters weren't fully prepared but thats not the conference coordinators fault and hey they're musicians ;). The other highlights were finally being able to see Phil Keaggy perform which was awesome and getting to see Chris Tomlin and Matt Redmond lead worship.

Christian Musicians Summit

I'm leaving in a couple minutes to head over to Seattle for a Christian Musicians Summit. I'm really excited to be able to spend some time learning from some really good musicians. I think its going to be alot of fun.

A sad day

This past Monday Missy, our families dog for the last decade or so passed away. She was one of those once in a lifetime dogs. She will definetly be missed.
